One off £45 Website Design with one years hosting £12

For a single page website, one off website design charges are due only when you accept the design, not in advance. Web hosting charges are due when you want to register your single page website (domain) name. It is just an annual once a year web hosting charge with a one off design charge to get online.

Web hosting for one year £12 or £22 for two years includes:- registration (rental) of a full domain www.yoursitename.co.uk or org.uk type name, one email address, server space of 200 Mb and 1 Gb of bandwidth (usage by visitors to your website) per month. On this single page website for example, that would allow over 5,000 page views per month and this is a large page with many images.

Are there any extra costs?

I do get asked about extra costs. If you can supply your own text and photo(s) for your website, you do not need to pay more to get online. I am not VAT registered, all prices quoted on this website are what you pay.

However, there may be extra costs if you decide that you need things like:

• Stock photo's or artwork designed (ie a logo) - see the quickly online section.
• Website names (domains) ending in .com, .net, .org & .eu are more expensive at £25 pa. I suggest you only use them if you have international ambitions.
• More than one email address set up - see the email included section.
• Complex forms - note that a simple contact form is free of charge.
• Additional text: I am not an expert on what you do so I don't supply this service. I can advice and perhaps improve your text but I don't write it. See the what to put on your Website section for help, or look online if you need to.

Website Promotion

Website promotion is included in this package. Links are the preferred way to get your website into the search engine indexes, the search engines are very good at finding websites that have links to them.

It would be great to say that's it on promotion for your website! I do however encourage my clients to promote their own website. I spend a limited time on my one off task of promoting your website, any time you can give to promotion can enhance your websites position in the search engines listings.

Note that: Websites with an address and phone number are much easier to promote. In addition to getting more links - contact information of this sort is especially important for commercial web sites. It reassures your websites visitors. I strongly suggest that you consider putting this level of detail on a commercial website.

Quickly Online

How do you get your material online? You supply by email the text and photos that you want online. If you want audio and/or video I can embed Youtube clips into the page. You must supply only material that is your property or used with permission of the owner.

I produce a sample design for you to view based on your material. Optionally specify text fonts, colours ... as much (or as little) layout detail as you wish. If my design is not what you want, I am happy to have repeated tries, so long as you give guidance on the effect(s) you want to achieve.

The single page website design package includes simple graphic design. Your images can be re-sized, trimmed, colour adjusted, converted to different formats and rotated. The package also includes creating simple graphics like: pointer arrows, wallpaper background tiles, favourite bar icons and so on.

Do note that if you ask me to supply or create complex graphics, there will be an extra charge: Typically £1 to £15 for a stock photo or £10 to £20 to create a simple logo. For stock photos, see Dreamstime.com, where I have an account (or you can buy direct). I charge £1 per credit for Dreamstime photos.

Website Maintenance

If you ask for an occasional text change to your website, send the change by email in a form that I can just cut and paste the text into your web page. If its simple I usually don't charge, I will just do it. For any changes you ask for, try and be clear - where the changed (or extra/deleted) text is on the web page and supply before and after text.

If I have to ask for more information, I may ask for a payment for the amendment, the point is make things easy for me and I won't. For more complex or more frequent changes I will give a quote just ask.

What to put on your Website

For anyone not sure what to put on your one page website its difficult for me to be specific without more information on your website, but for general information ...

Search engines work on text so do not stint on it, I recommend at least 200 words. More is better but it is a case of limited returns after a while, remember to keep 'on the topic of your website', a single page website works best that way. If you go to far off topic it dilutes your material.

Consider these suggestions as to what to put on the page -

• Contact information
  • Address: An address is important on a commercial website, a small business perhaps working from home may wish to give an address only to the post code area and then ask for appointments to be arranged in advance.
  • Phone number: for many websites a land lines is better than a mobile phone number as it implies a physical address.
  • One or more email address(es)
  • Optional if applicable to the site: location map, directions, parking information, opening hours, region covered, contact form (see a form at the end of page), fax no. ...
• FAQ's: are a really good way of answering frequent questions saving your time, getting more information across and key words onto the page.
•   Logo photo or graphic - helps the site look more professional. I can for example, create text based logos, for example the Ashton PC logo here circled and with a shadow effect.
• Product/Service: Details of products or services supplied, give any selling points why your products/services are cheaper,better,more reliable ...
• Photo's of products, services, shop front, shop display's, previous work done, your photo (if you want to personalise the website) ...
• About you/your company: years of experience/trading, qualifications, trade bodies, trade logo's, experience with other companies in the same line. Selling points - discounts for OAP's, special offers, large car park, large warehouse with many items held in stock, ... and so on
• Testimonials: If they are good, its not to everyone's taste as its so easy to fake them. If you use them have 3 or more I suggest otherwise it can be rather faint praise.
• Terms and Conditions: If needed, usually at the end of page in smaller text. Its rarely a selling point but may be needed.
• Links: If needed.

Email Included

The single page website package includes the set-up of one email address, in the form of anyname@yoursite.co.uk (or .org.uk).

Alternatively use an existing email address or addresses it/they can be put on your website or if you prefer simply redirect the anyname@yoursite.co.uk address to an existing email address.

If you need more than one email address, I charge a one off payment of £4 to set-up each additional email address.

Contact Form Included

A website contact form is included in the basic charge. A contact form helps web mail users like Microsoft Hotmail (now Windows Live Hotmail), Gmail, Yahoo! Mail & others web mail users get in contact very easily. Forms mean your web site visitors don't have to open a new web mail page and copy/paste (or key in) your email address.

If you need a more complex form, it can be written specifically for your website, just ask for a quote. A bespoke form ensures you ask for the exact data you need from your web sites visitors.

Output from any form can be directed to any email address that you own.

Website Design for Mobile Phones

New in 2012: Add a mobile phone subdomain - m.yourwebsite.co.uk - as an extra option to your main single page website package. The main website caters for the wider screen or hi resolution devices such as: laptops, netbooks, tablets & PC's. Mobile phones visitors with smaller screens get a partial view at best for this type of website.

If you wish to have a extra website designed for modern mobiles like the iphone & android phone visitors. For an extra £20 (a one off design charge) & a £2 extra annual hosting charge. You can have have both, an extra '.m' subdomain supplying a page designed for modern mobiles.

Designs are simplified versions of your main single page website but based on 480 pixel (dot) screen widths, with smaller and often fewer graphics and less text. This is to cater for the lower resolution (small) display screens and the reduced bandwidth (connection speed) on mobile devices.

Buy Now Ecommerce

  Ecommerce with no monthly payment charges!? A single 'Buy Now' button can be added to your website free of charge.

Pay Pal is a simple and low cost way to collect online payments by credit or debit card. Your website visitors can make a payment by selecting an item to buy and then just clicking on the 'Buy Now' button to make the payment on the secure Paypal website by debit or credit card.

Visit the Paypal website for information on how to set-up this then email me the button details. Sales charges, are based on single transactions so there are no monthly charges, indeed no charges without sales when I write this.

Note that:

• Further buy now buttons cost just £5 to add to your website.
• You can have multiple payment options on one 'buy now' button.
  

Social Networking

Built in links for visitors to the social networking sites can also be included in the single page website package. Requires Javascript to be active, see the one click, facebook & twitter icon links near the top of page

For other sharing options move the mouse over the share link for a large number of link icons to the smaller and more specialist social networking sites. Also included: email a link to your friends & add a link to your personal favourites bar. Note that if Javascript is not active on your computer, no links will be displayed.

Multi Browser Tested & W3C Compliant

Google Chrome, Safari (Apple) & Firefox now have a large share of the web browser market. The single page web site package includes testing with Microsoft's Internet Explorer as well as Google Chrome, Firefox, & Safari (Apple) browsers. Your single page website will be verified as W3C compliant. Unless some 3rd party add-ons like embedded Youtube videos, forms or some map links are used.

Expandable Website

Websites are expandable: add extra text or sections to your one page site, additional pages, additional graphics, motion effects, extra bandwidth and extra email addresses. These can all be added to an existing website. Design costs for this will vary depending on what you want, with fixed price quotes given. Note that simple text changes are only charged after repeated changes.

Hosting costs for multiple page web sites is £16 pa for 1Gb or £20 pa for 2Gb of bandwidth (usage). If you need unlimited bandwidth use. Sorry but I don't supply this on a shared server - very high use for one client, cripples the response times for both your website and any other clients who are on that server.

Should you need very high band width usage contact me for more information, as there are options to do this.

Free Website (Domain) Transfer

I am confident my charges are very competitive but if you decide you can do better. There is no charge from me to transfer your single page web site to another hosting supplier during your hosting period.

There is however likely to be a charge from your new hosting supplier.

Free Statistics Review

A free statistics review is supplied by email every year with your hosting renewal reminder. Reviews show - search engine referrers, a summary of the top 50 search phrases used with the number of times each phrase was used and a graphic of daily visitor numbers.

File reads or 'hits' usually greatly exaggerate as one visitor viewing a website page will generates multiple file reads. For example one visitor to this website page could generate anything between 18 and 36 file reads, so I don't quote 'hits'.
